Fellow baseball enthusiast Billy Smith sent me another email a couple of weeks ago showing off his latest masterpiece he built in his home. From Billy:

Like many Stadiums of the “past” OYO Park @ Citi Field too fell victim to the dreaded wrecking ball. ( Kathy claimed she needed the “room” back for a walk in closet? ) The “site” had been on shaky ground for some time. The arrival of the Moving Vans signaled the beginning of a three week journey to move the remains of OYO Park and all the memorabilia South to a new location. ( the basement )

After many hours of construction I am thrilled to announce Strat O Matic Baseball has found a “new home”

“The Ball Park” was constructed again using legos, Matchbox Cars & Trucks, N Scale Model Trains and many significant logos. OYO MLB figures line up waiting for “The Ball Park” gates to open.

“The Ball Park” was built with the intention to capture 3 of my favorite Cathedrals, Fenway Park, Wrigley and Ebbetts Field. Pictures, posters, signs and memorabilia were all moved and hung for display.

Enjoy!! Billy Smith #15

My Take

I get excited when I see an email notification from Billy. My first thought is “I wonder what he has created now?!?!” and he never disappoints. He has done an incredible job in melding these three iconic stadiums into one. I long for the days of sitting in my childhood bedroom with my Sears knockoff lego-type bricks trying to unsuccessfully replicate his spectacular work. I admire his patience and creativity and I cannot wait to see what he does next because if he is anything like me….there is always a next.
