Welcome to my Strat-O-Matic custom Negro League replay using the Negro League All Star cards that Strat-O-Matic released a few years ago. I took all of the cards, ranked them based on stats and other available statistical data and attempted to put together four equal teams. I separated the position players from the pitchers and drafted both individually. On this page you can find team standings, upcoming series and links to team pages that will have stats, rosters and game write ups.
Check out my review of the NL All Star Cards in the reviews section.
All games are being rolled at Iron Horse Park.
I am playing Strat-o-Matic Basic Cards and Dice with catcher’s throwing arms included on stolen base attempts. No injuries or limitations on playing time. Starting pitchers will not pitch out of the pen. This is a fantasy tournament.
4 teams that will play 36 games each for 72 league games
All teams will play three games series before moving on to the next opponent. After the first round of series (9 games), I will rotate around starting pitching rotations to ensure that all pitchers will face each other once.
After the first three series are done (every team will have played each other) I will start substituting bench players. One bench player will sub in and play an entire series. The next series, that bench player will return to the bench and another bench player will get an entire series.
I am using iScore on a Kindle Fire to keep stats. I am emailing the entire stats package to myself after every game and will be updating the team stats pages after every series.
I will attempt to write up weekly league reports after every six team games (league games 12, 24, 36, 48 etc.)
Once the league is over, I plan on taking the league winner and playing a 7 game series against the 27 Yankees.

Admittedly, I was very unfamiliar with a majority of the players in this card set from Strat. I have heard a few of the names, but was slightly intimidated by what was before me as a tried to put fair teams together. Using guidelines created by other hobbyists, I started putting four evenly matched teams together.
First, I separated the pitchers and position players and ranked those based on the stats on the card. This is where it can get tricky. Certain names are expected to rank in certain places, but that is not always what the card dictates and the cards play a huge part in the replay. Using the statistics on the cards, I ranked the players how I saw fit sometimes ignoring common perception. The cards were put together a certain way and they were going to tell the story.
I ranked both separately and started a snake order draft system to try and make it balanced. I had to make a few minor tweaks after all was said and done to make sure that each team had a second catcher and that the players that played both in the field and pitched were dispersed through all of the teams.
I am anxious to see how well I did in breaking the stars up. If need be, I will adjust the rosters and play the whole thing a second time.
Listed below is the excel file I used to determine the values of all payers and rank them accordingly. I also included Fos’ rankings from the stratfanforum. The first two tabs of the file have useful data on them. Right click on the file and click on save as.
