Brewer’s brilliance beats Red Sox
Alec Radcliff got Pittsburgh on the board first with an RBI double driving in Rap Dixon in the bottom of the second inning. The Crawfords added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth when they put together three singles scoring Bill Monroe on a Bill Perkins single. The game was put away in the bottom of the sixth when a series of singles and errors scored four two-out runs. Mule Suttles had two rbi’s in the inning.
Dick Seay, in a rare start, had a great day for the Crawfords. He singled in the first, walked in the third, singled in the fifth and sixth, and knocked in two runs.
The story of the Day was Brewer and his dominance of the Red Sox lineup. He did not allow a hit until the fourth inning (Jud Boojum Wilson single). The only other baserunners were two walks to Superman Pennington and an eighth-inning single by Dewey Creacy. Memphis did not have a single baserunner get past first base.
“It is easy to look good when your defense is playing like they did today. We had a good one day today, going to enjoy this one tonight and then get ready for the next one. We want to be the champs of the Midwest Six!” said Brewer.
