OYO Park @ Citi Field
Billy Smith has been playing Strat-o-Matic baseball since 1963 and like many of us, he finds a way to intertwine that hobby with other hobbies.
Mr. Smith presents to us his version of the Mets Citi Field in a 2000 piece custom Lego ballpark. The project was constructed three different times before he was finally satisfied with the current result. The entire project took about 30+ hours to complete (sounds familiar) including finding all of the New York Mets and MLB imagery.
The “Field” and base consist of almost 2000 pieces, the buildings are HO scale train set structures . The train set is N scale model train. One will notice a lot of engine blue and orange to represent the Met colors. The trolley is decorated with the Cincinnati Reds signage and all buildings and structures sport NYM and MLB logos.
Billy’s current replay is a 56 game short season of the 1938 season. “56 games is easy and it keeps my interest.” The NY Giants won the NL and after 40 games the NYY lead the AL.
It never ceases to amaze me how much the game of baseball and Strat-o-Matic has touched some of our lives. I love how you can tell the passion he has for the game in these pictures. I can’t help but notice all of the other little hidden gems hiding in these pics (like that other stadium hiding on the bottom of that table). I would love to get the chance to meet Billy and just talk some baseball. Please keep in touch Billy, would love to see what you do or come up with next.
