Johnson’s throwing errors too ‘Heavy’ for Monarchs to overcome Smokey Joe Williams and Max Manning battled into the ninth inning today with Williams trying to hold onto a one run victory over the Monarchs. A struggling Oscar ‘Heavy’ Johnson led off the bottom of the ninth with a single and moved up 90 feet after a Ray Dandridge one out single. The Monarchs then called upon slugger Vic Harris to hit for Manning with the tying run on second base. Pittsburgh tops Memphis in extras, Rap Dixon plays hero Memphis struck first in the top of the third with five straight hits off of Chet Brewer. Jud Wilson capped off the hit barrage with a two run single. Pittsburgh tied things up in the top of the fourth after Sam Bankhead tripled in two and Bill Perkins hit a sac fly to score Bankhead. Memphis, trailing 6-5 heading into the bottom of the ninth, had Newt Allen hit a one out single off of relief pitcher Bullet Rogan. Strat at the Airport

While flying from Florida to Chicago in August of 2014, my son and I had a 3-hour layover in Atlanta. After grabbing a bite to eat, we decided to roll a game of Strat(yes, we were traveling with a few teams).
